Arkham Horror: Mother's Embrace vs Conway: Disappearance at Dahlia View
Arkham Horror: Mother's Embrace
Arkham Horror: Mother's Embrace is a story-driven, party-based adventure RPG complete with unique gridless turn-based combat, and a creepy Lovecraftian theme. In this game, you get to control a ragtag team of investigators with varying experiences and talents. The goal here is to track down the mysterious cultists who are involved in the murder of Professor Tillinghast during what seems to be a sacrificial ritual. Will you be able to find out what’s really going on and who’s to blame for the murder? As someone who has not played the board game version of Arkham Horror before, this turn-based adventure RPG is a pretty great introduction. I absolutely love the horror-themed storytelling here and the voice acting is simply brilliant. Since I’m an avid fan of turn-based RPGs, the gridless gameplay here is unique enough to help it stand out. That said, the game is unfortunately marred by several glitches, especially the annoying camera glitch which can only be fixed by reloading a previous checkpoint.
So, to sum up, Arkham Horror: Mother's Embrace may not be triple-A level, but it’s a solidly fun game in spite of its bugs and is still worth the purchase.
Conway: Disappearance at Dahlia View
Conway: Disappearance at Dahlia View is an investigative point-and-click-like adventure game where you play as a wheelchair-bound retired private investigator named Conway. A young girl named Charlotte May was kidnapped in the middle of the night in his neighborhood and he has decided to dust off his coat and dive into one last case. In this game, you'll need to talk to neighbors, observe their behavior, and conduct some sleuthing of your own, all in hopes of tracking down the missing girl before it’s too late!Besides having incredible voice acting and storytelling that completely immerse you into the story, the game also features a nice photography aspect, allowing you to photograph pieces of evidence as well as to spy on neighbors exhibiting suspicious behaviors, as well as an evidence board where you'll try to figure out what fits where just to reveal the bigger picture of the case. There are even vintage stamps that you can collect for fun too... if you can spot them that is!
All in all, Conway: Disappearance at Dahlia View is a brilliant detective game where a keen eye and having great deduction skills can come in handy. Will you be able to rescue the girl from her captors before it's too late?
