9th Dawn II vs Neverwinter Nights 2
9th Dawn II
9th Dawn II is the exciting sequel to a pretty awesome game series. Similar to the original game, 9th Dawn II provides players with a wide, open world of Caspartia, which consists of a myriad of places to discover. But instead of locking you to a single class even before you start playing, the game adopts a more Runescape-like (old-school) approach where your skill use determines which type of character you’ll be. So, if you want to be a mage, simply use magic often. The game also features a much-improved GUI, which makes managing your inventory, spells, world map and quest journal easier. However, many players have complained that the starter gear for the class they are trying to build just costs too much. It’d be nice to lower the prices so newcomers can at least have some gear and be able to slowly ease into the game.
9th Dawn II, like its predecessor, is the sort of old-school RPG that appeals mainly to fans of the genre. Unless you really enjoy hard, old-school RPGs, you might find this game too difficult to get into or too grindy to be enjoyable.
Neverwinter Nights 2
Neverwinter Nights 2 is the brilliant sequel to the first Neverwinter Nights. This time around, you'll be playing as a farmer-turned-hero who set off on a quest to defeat the King of Shadows. Although the original campaign may be a tad bit cliche, the game truly shines once you get into the first expansion where you'll gain a unique spirit-eating mechanic that will affect your gameplay and change the path of your narrative. Not to mention, like the first game, Neverwinter Nights 2 has been endowed with loads of player-made mods and hence, adventures that you can explore at your leisure, adding to what is already a worthwhile purchase. The game even has an improved toolset which allow players to host their own solo or multiplayer adventures that they can also share to other players. However, being a pretty old game, there will definitely be bugs and glitches that you will have to content with along the way, but overall, Neverwinter Nights 2 can guarantee hundreds and maybe thousands of hours of gameplay (with mods), making it worth every cent you spent on it.
