Age of Conan: Unchained vs The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Age of Conan: Unchained
Age of Conan: Unchained is an MMORPG that's based on the timeless classic comic and TV series, Conan the Barbarian. Featuring one of the best fantasy-themed lore, the game also has a very unique action-based combat system that, despite its steep learning curve, is comparable to that of TERA... though, we'd say that combat in this game is much more varied. You can weave spells, attempt to capture battlekeeps with massive siege machines and even enjoy some good ol' mounted combat that is surprisingly not at all too clunky. However, you should bear in mind that this MMO has been around for quite some time, so the graphics in this game might be a tad bit old fashioned. What we love the most about Age of Conan is that the game actually rewards players who go off the beaten track and explore the secret corners of the world that questlines will never bring you to. The shift from being a subscription-based MMO to becoming a free-to-play MMO has been very well-received too, mainly because it injects a certain amount of much-needed players into its population and well, it allows newcomers to try the game out at no cost.
All in all, Age of Conan is a solid MMORPG that is very well-suited for players who like to explore and a challenge. Hardcore fans of Conan may want to try this game out as well, even if it's only to experience the different storylines in the game.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is possibly the best The Witcher game yet, winning praises and accolades ever since its release. Honestly, you'll may never see another game that's as gorgeous and as nuanced as The Witcher 3. The story-driven gameplay, where every choice you make matters, is excellent; the voice acting spot-on; and the action-based combat is as tactically charged and varied as ever. The world this game is set in is also massive and the underwater combat, albeit a bit simplistic, sets precedence for other potential games to follow (We're looking at you Fallout 4... or maybe 5!). The modes of travel is as brilliant as well - whether you prefer horseback, sailing or both, you'll actually get to enjoy the journeying process due to the realism of it all. In fact, some may even opt for the old-school method of travel over "fast travelling".Although there were some complaints about the incredibly limited inventory at first, the developers were fast enough to address the problem in a patch within the week of the game's release. This only show how much importance is placed on player feedback and well, the developers also win extra points for producing a DRM-free version for GoG.com.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been claimed by many as the best RPG of all time and we definitely have to agree on this one. The game is just magnificent from end to end and if you really enjoy story rich RPGs, you simply must buy this game and try it out!
