Faster Than Light vs Oxygen Not Included
Faster Than Light
Faster Than Light is a pretty unique indie game where you build amazing spaceships, manage your crew and set off to explore the vast, randomly generated galaxy in search of adventure and perhaps a fight. As your ship is built part by part, the enemy can attack specific areas of your ship as well. This means you'll likely encounter various challenging incidences during combat that will force you to think on your feet to save your ship at all costs... since the game's permadeath feature means you will not get a second chance if you lose your ship. Sometimes, you'll also need to make critical decisions to, for example, reroute what remaining juice you have into your shield for a last-ditch effort to defeat the enemy or to your engines while hoping for a quick getaway so you can fight another day.Although its simplistic appearance, Faster Than Light has a very intruiging gameplay that will truly challenge your ability as the commander of a spaceship. The scenarios you encounter are fun enough to solve, the permadeath drastically increase the stakes in the game, and of course, the battles are equally as exciting.
Oxygen Not Included
Oxygen Not Included is one of the most highly anticipated new survival/base building game by Klei Entertainment, the very people behind the breakout indie title, Don't Starve. Set in a space-colony where oxygen itself is a limited commodity, Oxygen Not Included will put your management and planning skills to the test as you try your best to not only help your current colonist survive the next day but also to grow your colony into a bustling underground space colony. The game has a very in-depth base building system that may bring to mind a 2D version of SimCity. It also features realistic psychological effects (specifically, stress) of surviving, which may eventually lead to a breakdown, and naturally, you wouldn't want that. Aside from oxygen and the mental states of your people, you will also need to keep a variety of other factors well-regulated lest your colonists die from a necessity you've neglected. Best yet, like Don't Starve, each world you play in is procedurally generated, guaranteeing hours after hours of replayable fun!
In some way, Oxygen Not Included feels like a much more in-depth version of Fallout Shelter albeit with a different theme and Don't Starve's iconic art style. So, if you love Klei's games so far, you might want to check out Oxygen Not Included. However, bear in mind that the game is still a work in progress and if you have any suggestions, you can always send them some feedback.
