Arcania: Gothic 4 vs Grim Dawn
Arcania: Gothic 4
Arcania: Gothic 4 returns as the fourth and possibly the final installment of the Gothic series. This time, you take on the role of a nameless hero who just had his village destroyed by the king's paladins. However, as you set off on your quest of vengeance, you gradually realize that this event is driven by a malicious hidden power. The storyline is so much better in this installment due to the many surprises, plot twists and cliffhangers, and it does have a pretty nice combat system. However, many players put some flak to this game mainly because the game isn't exactly "Gothic" but pretending to be by using the "Gothic" name, but partly because the game does have some boring quests. That said, the game is still a pretty decent RPG.
Grim Dawn
Grim Dawn is set in a apocalyptic fantasy world where humanity has been pushed to the brink of extinction. The game features an in-depth character development and progression, allowing you to combine any of the six unique classes to from a dual class character, using the game's Devotion system to unlock powerful secondary effects for your skills, as well as equip a wide variety of weapons and armor, each of which can be further enhanced. The hack-and-slash combat in this game is incredibly visceral as well, making it very satisfying to slay your enemies. There are even factions that you can curry favor with and quests that have outcomes depending on your choices while you lend a hand to help various huamn enclaves to rebuild the world. Grim Dawn can also be played via its multiplayer mode (up to 4 players), which will give you challenges that emphasize more strongly on teamwork.
In short, Grim Dawn is, as claimed by many, one of the best ARPGs of all time. Many people have went as far as to say that this game is so much better than Diablo 3. So, if you've played games like Diablo 3 before and thought they were good, well, once you play this game, you'll have your mind completely blown by how amazing this is. No joke!
