Aside from troop cards, you also have access to a diverse selection of spell cards that can directly interact with your troops, quickly turning the tide of battle in a match. You also have access to four Heroes with their own special abilities. You can cast Hero abilities once they are available and have a small cool down after usage. Naturally, different heroes will have different abilities.
There are currently 10 arenas to dominate and the best thing about this game is that you can choose what arena to fight in even if you have unlocked new ones. Each arena has a battle chip cost to enter; you will earn these battle chips once you win fights with higher arenas earning you more.
