World of Warcraft: Why Classic Raids Have Become Easier

2022-01-25
World of Warcraft: Why Classic Raids Have Become Easier The original World of Warcraft was released way back in 2004. The world changed, as well as the game and its players, even if the fanbase has expanded drastically.

Many players rejoiced at the Classic’s return since that means getting that Vanilla experience paired with a bunch of old raids with Classic’s flavor.

There are many WoW Classic raids, yet with its release, players have significantly improved since 2004. They’ve beaten the raids that previously were considered extremely difficult to beat. For example, Naxxramas is an example of a legendary WoW Classic raid. Exceptionally hard; very few players could even run this raid full, and the majority would likely end up stuck on Patchwerk or the first-second bosses of their chosen instance quarters.

Easy min-maxing with a bunch of internet resources

Back in the day, players didn’t have everything available to them right away. There was no Wowhead, only its counterparts like Thottbot.

We have the whole internet at our disposal. We’ve already figured the game out, making it much easier than it used to be back then.

The vast majority of players now know the ins and outs of the game. The game is much easier to play. But of course, even with the treasure trove of knowledge that is the internet, WoW Classic raid boost will make your game infinitely easier since you get to play with professional players.

Players are more skilled than before

Even if you’re playing casually or you’re not focused on the hardcore gaming aspect of WoW, you’re a hundred times better than the average Vanilla WoW player.

For example, not key binding your character’s skills were ubiquitous in Vanilla. A lot of players simply clicked their skills on the hotbar. Nowadays, if you’re not using macros or even add-ons, you’re not doing WoW right.

There are also plenty of detailed guides as to how to build your character, whichever way you’d like, just so you can get the best out of the class and spec you’ve chosen, as well as how to maximize your DPS or HPS, or if you’re a tank, how to tank certain dungeons or mobs properly. There’s a guide for everything now and getting some useful insights is just a click away!

We can now do the things we couldn’t do back then

With all the knowledge players have right now, they have the best opportunity to go back to complete the things, whether it is a raid or an elusive achievement, that they couldn’t complete before back in 2004, thanks to detailed walkthroughs and add-ons. The same can be applied to WoW Classic raid carry which allows you to gear up fast and run the raids at a comfortable pace. Back then, you couldn’t just hire someone to do the gearing-up for you; now, you can.

Add-ons: more conveniences

Now we have access to myriads of addons that people didn’t use before. They make the game easier with addons like Questie or WoW Quest Log.

Back in the day, add-ons were more primitive and far less well known. Many people didn’t know how to install them or might not trust them. This would lead to having close to no add-ons, or the opposite: having too many redundant ones.

WoW grew alongside its players

Blizzard has decided to carry over their modern features, like raid frames, to WoW Classic. This decision is definitely well-received by players. Modern raid frames are convenient, after all. You can see everyone in the raid. Back in Classic, without an add-on, you could only see frames of your party.
WoW grew alongside its players

The classes have also changed since the original version of the game. They have grown over time, tuned, and changed. They had less utility, less power, and more bugs than what we’re playing with today.
We’re also getting better gear, having updated stats from later patches of the game. Tier gear is buffed up as well.

Larger and better servers

Our servers are so much larger, even with the expected fall-off in popularity. The medium server outdoes even the most packed Vanilla server from 2004. This means that your pool of potential raiders is so much bigger now.

Unfortunately, this also means that the number of people that are capable or had the time to commit was so much less. You couldn’t just pick up someone new who said they are a tank and go run a dungeon. You probably have to gear them up first!

Like in Classic, losing raiders was a big problem, so you had to keep them happy. Getting new raiders would cost you so much time and effort since gear is dropping at fairly low rates. Nowadays, you can get a Classic raid boost and avoid this issue entirely, saving you weeks, especially when you’re leveling and gearing alts.

It’s easier to look up things while playing the game

People’s own hardware was so much worse back then. Opening a web page or a walkthrough video would make WoW pretty much unplayable.

So not looking things up became normal. Players just looked at what worked on the fly. Maybe people didn’t even know the correct WoW Classic raid order and just winged it.

Couple this with the majority of players not having a clue what’s going on (raid frames, remember?) or what they had to do when facing certain bosses puts you in for a challenge.

After so many years though, the game has been min-maxed to a T. It’s so easy to just “pause” the game for a bit, switch tabs and go to Google for answers. Heck, some people even have two screens so they can do just that without losing sight of the raid in progress - multitasking ftw!
