Anno 2205 vs Oxygen Not Included
Anno 2205
Anno 2205 is, in some way, a "grand simulation" game and a city-builder that is set in the far future where Earth has already been developed to its maximum capacity and it's time to take to the stars. However, this game is no space exploration sim. Instead, you'll still be focusing much of your development effort on Earth but this time around, you'll get to expand your influence to the moon; to mine the resources there and bring it back to Earth. The gameplay is also further enhanced with a unique Session mode where you can play on multiple locations and then connect all of these regions together. And of course, the map of the region you can play in is a lot larger (five times, to be exact) than the previous game. However, many fans of the game have pointed out that the combat system is rather boring in this game. Though admittedly, the combat in other Anno games isn't particularly exciting either. It's just something that's necessary.
That said, the gameplay might still be interesting enough for you to buy the game, maybe at a discounted price, but for some, the game might not be comparable to any of the other Anno titles. It's up to you to decide which camp you fall into.
Oxygen Not Included
Oxygen Not Included is one of the most highly anticipated new survival/base building game by Klei Entertainment, the very people behind the breakout indie title, Don't Starve. Set in a space-colony where oxygen itself is a limited commodity, Oxygen Not Included will put your management and planning skills to the test as you try your best to not only help your current colonist survive the next day but also to grow your colony into a bustling underground space colony. The game has a very in-depth base building system that may bring to mind a 2D version of SimCity. It also features realistic psychological effects (specifically, stress) of surviving, which may eventually lead to a breakdown, and naturally, you wouldn't want that. Aside from oxygen and the mental states of your people, you will also need to keep a variety of other factors well-regulated lest your colonists die from a necessity you've neglected. Best yet, like Don't Starve, each world you play in is procedurally generated, guaranteeing hours after hours of replayable fun!
In some way, Oxygen Not Included feels like a much more in-depth version of Fallout Shelter albeit with a different theme and Don't Starve's iconic art style. So, if you love Klei's games so far, you might want to check out Oxygen Not Included. However, bear in mind that the game is still a work in progress and if you have any suggestions, you can always send them some feedback.
