Arkham Horror: Mother's Embrace is a story-driven, party-based adventure RPG complete with unique gridless turn-based combat, and a creepy Lovecraftian theme. In this game, you get to control a ragtag team of investigators with varying experiences and talents. The goal here is to track down the mysterious cultists who are involved in the murder of Professor Tillinghast during what seems to be a sacrificial ritual. Will you be able to find out what’s really going on and who’s to blame for the murder?

As someone who has not played the board game version of Arkham Horror before, this turn-based adventure RPG is a pretty great introduction. I absolutely love the horror-themed storytelling here and the voice acting is simply brilliant. Since I’m an avid fan of turn-based RPGs, the gridless gameplay here is unique enough to help it stand out. That said, the game is unfortunately marred by several glitches, especially the annoying camera glitch which can only be fixed by reloading a previous checkpoint.

So, to sum up, Arkham Horror: Mother's Embrace may not be triple-A level, but it’s a solidly fun game in spite of its bugs and is still worth the purchase. Turn Based Mystery Horror Story Gothic Crime Investigation Dark Fantasy Games Like Kingdom Hearts: Unchained X

Kingdom Hearts: Unchained X

Kingdom Hearts: Unchained X offers a nice yet rather unlikely mix between two of the most celebrated animated masterpieces, Disney and Final Fantasy, that's set in the “Era of Lost Masters” within the timeline of the Kingdom Hearts lore. If you find this hard to wrap your head around... well, just imagine a Kingdom Hearts world that had just been Disney-fied. Indeed, this 2D game contains numerous references to popular Disney animated shows, characters and even locations like Agrabah from Aladdin.

Aside from the Disney influence, fighting the Heartless in this game is something that's pretty easy to pick up since you'll mostly be tapping and swiping to swing that big and iconic keyblade of yours. Interestingly though, the game allows you to use a variety of abilities, ranging from healing effects to experience boosts, depending on the medal you use.

That said, Kingdom Hearts: Unchained X does pale in comparison to any of the games in the Kingdom Hearts franchise and well, that's not exactly surprising considering that this game is free-to-play. However, if you love Disney and/or Kingdom Hearts, you'll definitely want to check this game out. Anime Turn Based Fantasy
