BioShock vs Dishonored
BioShock
BioShock is one of the most highly acclaimed steampunk-themed shooters that has a very interesting twist - your very character's DNA can be modified through the use of a selection of plasmids and a special resource called ADAM, allowing you to have superhuman abilities which will serve you well, sometimes more so than the weapon you wield, in your adventure through the fallen underwater city of Rapture. Aside from the many violent mad men (a.k.a. Splicers), the game also provides players with challeging encounters with the iconic Big Daddies and Little Sisters. When it comes to non-military-styled shooters with an intensely immersive storyline, BioShock is among the handful of the "best of the best" (which includes the Fallout series, the Borderlands series, the Deus Ex series and others). The game boasts of having a rather dark storyline that actually challenges you to think about it in a more in-depth way; to link all the clues together to get the complete narrative that is surprisingly a lot more engaging that you'd expect.
2K Games has just released the remastered version of the very first Bioshock last year and if you can get it on Steam, you really should. The very unique experience it can offer you is very well worth the cost.
Dishonored
Dishonored is one of the most highly acclaimed, first-person action-stealth game that puts you into the role of a supernatural assassin set in a city, Dunwall, where somehow technology and the paranormal collide. Unbeknown to you, the cost of your supernatural abilities that had made you into one of the most efficient assassins ever is incredibly high and once the cost is made known, you can't help but feel betrayed and hence, your path to exacting your vengeance on the dark forces who gave you these powers begins. The gameplay in Dishonored is amazingly free-form - you can approach each assassination your way as long as they are stealthy enough to keep you alive. Aside from your new-found ability to possess any living creature and stop time itself, you can use distractions and the pockets of darkness to your advantage as well. Interestingly, your chosen way to kill will affect the world around you and the outcomes of your missions will also change as a result. There are plenty of ways for you to customize your character to fit your play style too.
Since its release, Dishonored has garnered a massive amount of approval from fans and critics alike. After all, it has managed to provide a stealth-based game that's not only unique but also incredibly immersive and addictive to play. If you enjoy stealth games with a bit of extra mystique, this is definitely the game to buy!
