Journey
Journey is literally a quintessential "artsy" adventure game. Why so? Well, the game puts you in the shoes of a mysterious robed figure who you will control throughout your adventure across beautiful, quiet and mostly desert landscapes. Each landscape provides players with a puzzle to solve that will allow them to move on to the next scene, though players can simply roam around the place and drink in the gorgeous visuals.There isn't a lot of buttons in the game and that's fine enough since you really don't need much to solve the puzzles, but personally, I'm incredibly intrigued by the Sing function. Although it is used to solve certain puzzles, most of the time you'll probably be using it idly while your character is travelling. Depending on how long you press the button and how fast you do so, you can actually create amazing little tunes that you'd love to have it recorded down and turned into perhaps a ringtone or something.
That said, Journey is a game that's so much more than composing music and solving puzzles. It is a journey (like its namesake) to help the robed figure discover who he/she is and to help you figure out what's happened in the game world, resulting in the sprawling desert that spans most of the game.
Red Crimes: Hidden Murders
Red Crimes: Hidden Murders is a crime investigation-themed hidden object game where you assume to role of police chief for the district of Rouxville. Unlike many other similarly-themed games though, this game focuses more on the analytical aspect of the CSI process, producing a host of more entertaining, immersive and sometimes, realistic mini-games for players to enjoy, in addition to the usual routine of scouring crime scenes for pieces of evidences.For instance, in an Autopsy mini-game, you actually get to use various tools to open up the victim's corpse to collect evidence that might have lodged in the body. Even without all the blood, it can still get kind of gruesome for the squemish and thankfully, players are given the option to skip such mini-games if they want to. There is a nice variety of mini-games as well, ranging from puzzle-based matching games to spinning a 3D object around to find tap-able spots.
The game has a simulation aspect as well, giving players to chance to assemble and expand their own police force, send out officers to patrol zones within the district, and even upgrade the police station to unlock new cases, zones and features. The zones offer various minor cases, missions and events that you can complete for extra rewards as well.
If you enjoy playing Criminal Case or CSI-like HO games, Red Crimes: Hidden Murders is one game you wouldn't want to miss. The game's as unique as it is fun - it is definitely worth the download and the time you'll spend on it solving cases.
