Killing Floor vs State of Decay

Games Like Killing Floor

Killing Floor

Killing Floor is an intense survival horror first-person shooter game that is set in the post-apocalyptic and devastatingly ruined country of England where a series of military-sanctioned cloning experiments had gone awry. Play with up to 6 of your friends cooperatively as you attempt to survive for long enough to clear the area you are airdropped into of any zombies or you can simply play solo. Unlike most similar games, Killing Floor has a non-linear gameplay where you can actually weld doors shut to redirect waves of zombies. The gameplay is also more tactically sound rather than the bullet-hell stuff you'd experience in some of the more arcade-like shooters.

In addition to having an arsenal of weapons for you to choose from, the game also features a persistent perks system which lets you to convert your in-game achievements into permanent improvements for your character's skills and abilities. The game even has mod support, so you can create new levels and mods for the game and share them with the world.

Killing Floor may be a rather old game, but it's still as fun as it was before. The cooperative gameplay guarantees hours of fun (as well as yelling and perhaps cussing) for both you and your friends as you try to stem the tide of zombies rushing towards you.

State of Decay

State of Decay is a pretty unique zombie survival RPG that doesn't only feature a vast open world for you to explore but also allows you to build a base, fortify it and recruit survivors (NPCs), each with their own personalities and characteristics, that you encounter to join you. You can even ask them to join you as you venture out into the world to find more items. The game's crafting system is pretty in-depth as well along with an interesting scavenging system that allows you to speed up the process of scavenging but at the cost of potentially attracting surrounding zombies to swarm to your location. Aside from the many weapons available, tere are even a wide variety of vehicles for you to drive around and ram zombies with.

Granted that the game still has some bugs and that the developers had earned a pretty bad rep for apparently releasing a patch as a separate DLC and wanting players to pay for it, State of Decay is still undoubtedly a very fun zombie survival game to play. If you can get the game at a discount, this game is definitely worth the price, especially for fans of the genre.
