Killing Floor vs TIO: Battlegrounds Royale
Killing Floor
Killing Floor is an intense survival horror first-person shooter game that is set in the post-apocalyptic and devastatingly ruined country of England where a series of military-sanctioned cloning experiments had gone awry. Play with up to 6 of your friends cooperatively as you attempt to survive for long enough to clear the area you are airdropped into of any zombies or you can simply play solo. Unlike most similar games, Killing Floor has a non-linear gameplay where you can actually weld doors shut to redirect waves of zombies. The gameplay is also more tactically sound rather than the bullet-hell stuff you'd experience in some of the more arcade-like shooters. In addition to having an arsenal of weapons for you to choose from, the game also features a persistent perks system which lets you to convert your in-game achievements into permanent improvements for your character's skills and abilities. The game even has mod support, so you can create new levels and mods for the game and share them with the world.
Killing Floor may be a rather old game, but it's still as fun as it was before. The cooperative gameplay guarantees hours of fun (as well as yelling and perhaps cussing) for both you and your friends as you try to stem the tide of zombies rushing towards you.
TIO: Battlegrounds Royale
TIO: Battlegrounds Royale is the standalone battle royale game mode for the mobile survival game, Thrive Island. Set in a pretty huge open world where you can craft a large variety of items and build shelters or even big buildings as a base of sorts at night. This game has a lot more "survival" gameplay rather than the somewhat intense "battle royale" fights since you are expected to gather resources and scavenge loot just so you can have the best gear to prepare you for the final fight for the title of victor royale!Unlike other battle royale games that have the iconic map-shrinking feature, this game did away with that. Instead, you need to hunt the land for your opponents, which may take awhile, but can be fun when you catch someone by surprise. Interestingly, the game even has a zombie mode where you can turn your slain foes into zombies. Not sure how this fit into the battle royale gameplay though.
All in all, TIO: Battlegrounds Royale feels a lot like a hardcore survival game rather than a battle royale mainly because it places emphasis on building a good shelter, gathering raw resources (as opposed to finding ready-made items) and well, crafting. The game is also a work-in-progress so you can expect a less-polished game that could use your feedback to improve.
