Sins of a Solar Empire is also a uniquely non-linear game where there are multiple paths, be it military action or diplomacy, that you can take to obtain victory.

The game even attempted to coin a new genre called "4X" that stands for eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate which is basically what the game is all about.
