Monkey Quest vs Transformice
Monkey Quest
Monkey Quest is a child-friendly MMORPG/ virtual world game set in the beautiful, isometric (platformer-like) world of Ook. Play as an adorable monkey, which you can customize as you wish, and set off on an RPG-like adventure where you'll complete quests given by other monkeys you meet along the way. The monkey you play as will also need a class, and you can choose from being a Pirate to a Wizard to a Ninja or even to a Viking.Being part of an MMORPG, you'll also get to play with your friends and journey together in a group, battling enemies along the way. As you level up, you'll also gain more powerful and cool-looking skills to help you defeat tougher foes. You can even buy a pet who will help you during combat. For the explorers at heart, there are plenty of locations for you to explore as well.
However, the best thing about this game is that it is designed with a younger audience in mind, and thus, the game has plenty of restrictions in place to help safeguard these younger players from potential cyber harm. This also allows parents to turn this game into a fun family-bonding activity.
That said, Monkey Quest has been shut down quite some time ago and if you're interested to find another game that both you and your kids will be able to enjoy, you might want to take a look at our list of alternative games.
Transformice
Transformice is a hilariously entertaining MMO platformer where you along with dozens of other mice will be jumping and running all over the place to be the first to bring back the cheese. Featuring a plethora of levels, realistic physics and an overall frantic gameplay, the game also appoints a random player as the almighty Shaman mouse who can decide to be the good samaritan and help the other little mice to get to the cheese or play the villain and make life a living hell for them. Besides having plenty of customization options, each player's mouse will have its own skill tree to upgrade.Interestingly, Transformice is a rather player-driven game. The game allows players to create their own game modes and maps in addition to the 7 official game modes and 200 official maps. This little yet significant feature helps to further extend the game's lifespan, giving players a chance to not only play games but also create games for other players to enjoy.
Being a somewhat competitive game, Transformice has a rarely ethical F2P business model where every item in the game is obtainable without spending any real money and if you do spend real money, the items you get are simply cosmetic in nature. Spenders and non-spenders will actually be on equal footing in this game, how awesome is that?
So, if you have a penchant for ridiculously funny platformers, Transformice is a game you won't want to miss out. Do give it a try!
